About Valerie

Valerie Kaiser grew up in the south Texas border country. Her father was an architect. and her grandmother was a founding member of the Brownsville Art League. Valerie's early interest in drawing and painting sprang from her family and opportunities to play with art materials.
In the 1970's she earned a BFA at the University of Texas at Austin, and later completed an MFA in painting at Washington University in St. Louis. She moved with her husband to Dallas, Texas in the 1980's and showed her work locally. She was represented by the Clifford Gallery in Snyder Plaza and has continued to show her work in various venues.

After surviving a bout of cancer, she sought the comfort of religious Icons and learned the ancient techniques of egg tempera and gold leaf. Valerie studied sacred iconography under the famous Greek iconographer Theodoros Papadopoulos, and later sponsored summer icon workshops in Dallas.
